The Fleet Air Arm Museum houses the Royal Australian Navy’s Aviation Collection, which is a world standard exhibition.
The 6,000 m2, two-storey exhibition centre comprises a main aircraft exhibition gallery based on the design of an aircraft hangar, supporting galleries, theatre, gift shop, function centre and airfield viewing platform overlooking the historic airfield at HMAS Albatross.
Over 25 fixed wing aircraft and helicopters (some now very rare) are displayed alongside a wide range of unique naval aviation related artefacts. These include piston and jet engines, aircraft ordnance and relics from the days of operating from the flight decks of aircraft carriers at sea.
The museum’s flight simulator provides a ‘virtual experience’ of what it is like in the pilot’s seat.
Its interactive exhibitions allow visitors to learn not only about naval aircraft and hardware, but also about the men and women who have served in the Fleet Air Arm.

Air Days
The Fleet Air Arm Museum sponsors air days at least once a year.
Fleet Air Arm Museum air days provide visitors with a unique opportunity to get a sensory overload from some of the most famous heritage and modern aircraft available for viewing in Australia.
A variety of heritage, Warbird, and current operational aircraft from Navy, Army and Air Force usually attend, together with visiting aircraft from other private collections and museums.
The RAN Historic Flight, also based at HMAS Albatross, displays its aircraft on museum air days.
